Recently, Tongya successfully delivered 2 units of Tongya Aluminum Fuel Tanker Trailer to a leading fuel distribution company in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This marks the first time the customer has upgraded their fleet to aluminum alloy tankers, replacing their aging steel tankers that had been plagued by corrosion and low payload efficiency. After a 4-month technical evaluation and comparison of 5 international suppliers, the customer chose Tongya for our superior aluminum manufacturing technology and deep understanding of East African transportation challenges. All negotiations and order procedures were completed remotely via video calls and WhatsApp, demonstrating the high trust Tanzanian customers place in Tongya’s products and services.
Our Tongya Aluminum Fuel Tanker Trailer is specifically engineered to address the unique operational challenges in Tanzania. With only 15% of the country’s road network paved, most fuel transport routes involve rough, unpaved roads that become extremely muddy during the long rainy season from March to May. Additionally, Tanzania’s coastal climate features high humidity and salt air, which accelerates corrosion of steel components. To meet these demands, our aluminum tanker uses premium 5454 marine-grade aluminum alloy for the tank body, which is 1/3 the weight of steel while offering exceptional strength and corrosion resistance. This lightweight design reduces the trailer’s tare weight by approximately 3.5 tons compared to equivalent steel tankers, allowing customers to legally carry an extra 3,500 liters of fuel per trip – a critical advantage in Tanzania where fuel prices are high and transport costs account for 35-40% of total operating expenses.

The tank body is constructed using advanced robotic welding technology with minimal seams, ensuring superior structural integrity and leak-proof performance. Multiple internal anti-wave baffles are strategically placed to minimize liquid surge during braking and cornering, significantly improving stability on uneven roads. The entire trailer features a low-center-of-gravity design, further enhancing safety on Tanzania’s winding rural roads. Unlike steel tankers, aluminum tankers require no internal anti-corrosion coating, eliminating the risk of coating peeling and fuel contamination, which is essential for maintaining fuel quality standards required by international oil companies operating in Tanzania.
The customer shared their experience during the delivery inspection: “We have been in the fuel distribution business for over 12 years and have exclusively used steel tankers until now. Our old steel tankers started developing serious corrosion problems after just 3 years of use, especially in the coastal areas. We had to spend a lot of money on repairs and repainting every year, and the heavy weight meant we could never carry a full load without exceeding weight limits. After researching aluminum tankers for two years, we chose Tongya because their technical team provided us with a detailed analysis of how aluminum would perform in Tanzania’s climate and road conditions. The extra payload capacity alone will pay for the additional investment in less than 18 months, and we expect these aluminum tankers to last at least 15 years with minimal maintenance.”
Before shipment, both trailers underwent a comprehensive 18-point quality inspection, including tank pressure test, leak test, brake system test and electrical system inspection. We also provided the customer with detailed operation and maintenance manuals in both English and Swahili, and conducted remote training for their drivers and maintenance staff. Our logistics team arranged shipping from Qingdao Port to Dar es Salaam Port and provided real-time tracking information throughout the journey.
With over 12 years of experience serving the African market, Tongya has established a strong reputation for reliable quality and professional service. Our aluminum fuel tanker trailers are increasingly popular in East African countries like Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, where customers are looking for more efficient and durable fuel transport solutions.
